Newly Weds Already Copying Famous Kimye Wedding
Everyone is talking about it. The Kimye wedding, or the nuptials of reality TV star Kim Kardashian and rapper husband Kayne West, is making its fair share of headlines — and a growing number of men and women are looking to the world-famous wedding for inspiration when planning their own. What are some things we’re likely to see again (and again)?
Kim Wears Dress With Familiar-Looking Sleeves
“The 33-year-old bride wore a custom-made Givenchy gown, designed with the help of Riccardo Tisci,” The Huffington Post writes. The dress Kardashian wore during the ceremony was covered with elegant lace details; she wore somewhat sheer, long-sleeves and a floor-length veil. Many are noting that Kardashian’s dress is a reminiscent of another cultural icon. Princess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, also wore a dress with long sleeves and lace. Kardashian changed dresses for the reception (just like she did at her last two weddings). That particular trend is not as likely to catch on!
Couples Go Exotic and Outdoorsy
Similarly, the couple created a buzz by traveling to Florence, Italy to say their I dos. Newly weds may not go quite that far, but a growing number of American couples are choosing backyard party themed weddings or outdoor weddings in remote and/or exotic locations. Search for wedding tent rentals or outdoor dance floor rentals, for example, to host your own celebration among gardens and nature — or opt for a decadent, Gatsby-inspired wedding, also a popular choice in 2013 and 2014.
Make It Personal
“Kim and Kanye’s first dance? Us reports it was a mashup of Etta James’ ‘At Last’ and Otis Redding’s ‘These Arms of Mine’ and ‘Tenderness,'” Newser reports. “West also rapped at the reception, and at the rehearsal dinner, he gave a speech calling Kim more beautiful than he is talented.” More couples are likely to show off their own talents — or otherwise infuse their personalities into the reception — than ever before.
Get inspired by the wedding everyone won’t stop talking about. Choose beautiful outdoor locations (and stay dry with wedding tent rentals), infuse receptions with personal details, and pick out an elegant, lace dress like Kardashian’s or Kate Middleton’s.
